Events in the Metaverse
The creators of the metaverse keep asking themselves the same question: How do we attract more people to the virtual world? After all, the metaverse is a completely new concept and little known to most people. Therefore, most of the efforts of the big platforms are being aimed at attracting new users. One of the big ideas that have emerged has been to hold events in the metaverse. Crowd congregations that revolve around a theme or objective, attracting more users who want to be part of it. A great example was Travis Scott’s concert in Fortnite. Thanks to incredible graphics and music from one of the world’s most famous artists, millions of viewers enjoyed this live event. Many others created an account on the said video game just to be able to attend the party. It was a huge success. Now we will tell you how a virtual event in the metaverse works and which ones you might be interested in attending in the near future.
In Development
Although virtual events have come a long way in recent years, they still have nothing to do with the real thing. All of them can only be enjoyed through a screen, with the auditory and sensory limitations that this implies. There is a lack of atmosphere, sensations, experiences… But it’s not bad at all. Especially if they are talks by celebrities or professionals, where reality is not so different from the virtual world. After all, a person talking does not include any experience that you cannot enjoy through a screen. On the other hand, if we go to the experience of a live concert, things change. A lot. Right now, experimentation is underway to take the sensations to the next level and make you feel like you’re actually at a live concert or event. The goal is to make you forget that you are still within the walls of your room and immerse yourself in a world with real interactions and real experiences (or at least as much as possible). To give you an idea of where the bar is set right now, we’ve put together a list of events you might be interested in. All of them are offered live by verified platforms, so you can enjoy them without any worries.
Upcoming events in the Metaverse
We open our list with the star video game of Epic Games: Fortnite. After having held (very successful) concerts with artists such as Travis Scott, Marshmallow and others, they have decided to continue offering concerts to their community of users. While so far the events have been one-off and one-off, the Epic Games team has decided to create a line of events called “Soundwave Series”. The idea is to hold concerts by famous artists to promote new albums to Fortnite players. The project has already started, in fact the last concert was held by Tones and I (for those of you who do not know, she is the creator of the hit “Dance Monkey”) in January 2022. Epic Games has decided to keep their upcoming artists under wraps, so they are being revealed a week before their performance goes live. You can keep up with all the news on the official Fortnite page. We also make a brief mention of the SANDBOX platform. They have done several very popular events, including celebrity interventions. In fact, the artist Snoop Dogg decided to buy a plot of land in the game itself. Like Epic Games, this platform keeps its events secret until the date of the event is just around the corner. To keep up to date with all the events we recommend you take a look at Sandbox Game’s Twitter page, where they post all their news. To close the list we have the default platform of the metaverse, Decentraland. Unlike the others, this one publishes its upcoming events a month in advance, we hope you enjoy your first event in the metaverse!
