How does virtual reality benefit society?
We tell you about the multiple benefits of Virtual Reality in our society.
Virtual Reality has started in humanity since the Sensorama appeared in 1960-1962 by Morton Heilig, as the first version of 4D and 5D cinemas.
In this experience there was movement in the chairs, smells, sounds, color film, wind and binaural sound; then came The Ultimate Display in 1965 by Ivan Sutherland, as an over-the-head viewer.
Thanks to the advancement of technology, we now have at our fingertips lightweight viewers, very complete experiences and applications that perform very well on smartphones and tablets.
As a result, it has been able to integrate many environments, companies and diverse business verticals, positively impacting millions of people and businesses.
Virtual Reality in everyday life, at home
The development of applications and contents for Virtual Reality has many similarities with videogames since a virtual space is designed by computer with the correct environment and activities for the viewer.
In this way, it is used to reduce the anxiety caused by confinement by presenting the user with simulated environments but also 360º footage of real spaces so that the person is “transported” to the site.
In this way, a person who cannot travel, could live the experience of being in Paris, without leaving home; these moments relieve the tension of confinement and the frustration of not being able to go.
It is also useful when treatment for phobias is required, because a scene can be recreated to teach how to speak in front of an audience or to treat a phobia of heights, from a simulated skyscraper.
In Human Resources
It is always necessary to give the trainee a welcome tour of the facilities to introduce them to what the company does and where each facility is located.
This can be done by filming the spaces in 360º and then transferring them to a virtual showroom that can be toured in VR goggles or also in a web browser.
Then it is also very useful to present to the person an experience of their functions and activities by simulating the machinery and processes to be developed, even without having seen their work site before.
In this way, the effectiveness of training goes from 10% in the classroom to a minimum of 60% when practicing the functions in a Virtual Reality environment, with the correct dedication of training resources.
Another benefit is the reduction of workplace accidents, dismemberment due to incorrect maneuvers, death, low productivity, high turnover and absenteeism.
Virtual Reality in ecommerce (E-commerce)
By integrating an e-commerce with augmented reality, we can present the product to the buyer in 360º so that they can project it in their space.
The person can then see if the chair on offer suits their space and can try different colors until they are satisfied.
This allows the purchase intention to materialize immediately without postponing the decision, to be able to sell 24 hours a day even when the warehouse is closed, and to reduce the cost of returned and reshipped products.
In real estate sales
We can make applications that activate the interior of the property on the cell phone. To do this, we visit the site, take a 360º photograph and incorporate the result in a pair of glasses. virtual reality for the person to “visit” it.
Thanks to this, the prospective buyer can perceive the size of the space (not just the photograph) walk through the rooms and even experience lighting changes if desired.
The buyer can then visit as many properties as he/she wants (even if he/she sees the advertisement in a window and with it activates the experience on the mobile) making the decision easier.
The sales team can then build a sales funnel with pre-qualified customers, without having to take them to visit each of the properties, while also maintaining remote visit information.
In machinery maintenance
Thanks to mixed reality, we can mix all of the above so that maintenance needs can be developed in an innovative and totally effective way.
By recreating the machine’s exploded view in an app and activating it on a tablet or augmented reality glasses when we walk up to it, we can make operating adjustments safely, effectively and efficiently.
The operator can then work safely, with a step-by-step in front of his eyes on the Tablet, with exact instructions and also with the possibility to connect to the second level support via WiFi.
In education
Today’s students are not satisfied with just listening to their teacher in a classroom. In order to transmit knowledge correctly, it is necessary to attract their attention and generate interest with audiovisual tools.
For this purpose, it is possible to recreate any situation and present it in virtual or even augmented reality glasses to show, for example, how the heart works by displaying it in 3D on the screen of a cell phone or tablet. The virtual reality training is key to future learning.
This technology, known today as Extended Reality, is transversal to knowledge and experiences, helping people all over the world to make their lives better, easier and even more fun.
At Two Reality we have built experiences in all the fields mentioned above, for transnational companies and also for small businesses.
