Zenfone AR: Virtual and Augmented Reality in One

The first phone compatible with Google Tango and DayDream

Cell phones have long since ceased to be simple devices for just calling and texting.

With each year, innovations become more powerful and challenging, and thus the field of new smart cell phone launches becomes more competitive.

2017, of course, could be no exception.

Throughout these twelve months, major launches are expected, capable of surprising even the most demanding customers in the technological world. With this in mind, and designed to satisfy and make you believe in the impossible, the ZenFone AR (ZS571KL) model arrived in January of this year.

The ZenFone AR is the first cell phone in the world launched with Project Tango (capable of bringing augmented reality) and Daydream (capable of bringing virtual reality).

ZenFone AR has a 5.7-inch size, 8 GB of RAM, and a burnished leather back surface with a milled metal frame. As a smartphone it brings us an exciting concept such as interacting with the world and the vision we have of it through the augmented reality of Tango; at the same time that with this it is possible to perform an immersion in virtual reality through Daydream.

All this with a simple cell phone. The following will explain a little more about what is included in the equipment, and what differentiates it from the rest of the mobiles on the market:

Technology of the future: Tango

In short, Tango is a set of sensors and computer vision software, with the ability to understand movement and the idea of space just as an ordinary person would.

This intelligence makes it possible for the ZenFone AR to identify how far away it is from walls, the floor, and other objects.

With Tango, it is even possible for the computer to store visual cues of a three-dimensional space. Tango brings motion tracking, deep sensing and even area learning to the ZenFone AR. Even if the person is in motion, this smart phone will continue to run Tango.

TriCam System

Under the premise of “built to see as your eyes do,” the TriCam system makes the ZenFone AR create a three-dimensional model of the environment in which it is located. It is composed of three rear cameras (the first with 23 megapixels, the second with depth sensor and the third with motion tracking).

With the ZenFone AR, you can take measurements of a room and place virtual furniture, so you can get an idea of what the room will look like with furniture that you haven’t even bothered to move yet.

Among the tasks that can be executed with this smartphone are: iStaging, Matterport Scenes, Lowes and WayfairView.

And hand in hand with augmented reality, the entertainment area is one of the most enriched, with the variety of video games available. Imagine a game in which virtual objects appear to be in the real world. Some of the games developed to enjoy the Tango experience are: Slingshot Island, Domino World and Wild Wild Race.

A new level from the hand of Google: Daydream

ZenFone AR thanks to Daydream offers enhanced virtual reality. The cell phone has a WQHD Super AMOLED display, with a size of 5.7 inches and Gorilla Glass 4.

On this screen, precision sensors follow the movements without losing track of them.

Everything you need to feel like you’re really in that movie or video game scene at the level of bristling your skin is tangible if you combine the use of Daydream View, a VR headset and a Google controller.

SonicMaster 3.0 and PixelMaster 3.0

ZenFone AR is designed to impress both your eyes and your ears. Here you can enjoy the immersive audio offered by AR and VR technologies combined with SonicMaster 3.0. It is also capable of outputting high-resolution audio at 24-bit / 192kHz. PixelMaster 3.0 is a tool for capturing moments in all their splendor. The 23 MP camera along with its f / 2.0 aperture lens, and a TriTech autofocus of 0.03 seconds, prevents that memory from being recorded in a blurry way. And at the same time, 4K video recording will do the same this time in the form of video.
